Supporting Membership

Supporting Membership provides access to a national network of sports-focused chiropractors and professional development opportunities.

Benefits include:

  • Membership in Provincial Sports Councils (where available)

  • Ongoing updates in sports chiropractic research and clinical standards

Supporting Membership also enables eligibility for FICS registration in Canada.

Sports Sciences Residency Program (SSRP)

The Sports Sciences Residency Program was instituted in 1984 to provide chiropractors in private practice the opportunity to attain post-graduate Sports Sciences Fellowship.

The SSRP is:

  • Institutionally based within the Canadian university system

  • Overseen by the RCCSS(C) Residency Committee

  • Delivered under approved Regional Coordinators

  • Designed to permit continuation of private practice

Program Highlights

  • Minimum 1000 hours of field work

  • Masters-level academic requirements

  • Exercise physiology

  • Sport nutrition

  • Sport psychology

  • Advanced imaging

  • Research methodology

  • Acute and chronic injury management

  • Sport administration

Completion typically requires three to four years, depending on format and academic pathway.

Upon successful completion, Residents are eligible to sit the Fellowship Examination.

Fellowship – FRCCSS(C)

The designation Fellow of the Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (Canada) (FRCCSS(C)) represents one of only five chiropractic specialties in Canada recognized by national regulatory authorities.

Fellows:

  • Meet rigorous academic, practical, and examination standards

  • Adhere to the RCCSS(C) Code of Conduct

  • Follow Guidelines for Chiropractors at Athletic Events

  • Contribute to research and interdisciplinary collaboration

  • Serve on national and international health care teams

  • Voting Membership at the RCCSS(C) AGM

RCCSS(C) Fellows are represented at:

  • World University Games

  • Commonwealth Games

  • Canada Games

  • Pan American Games

  • Olympic and Paralympic Games

Fellows are leaders within the chiropractic and sports science communities, held to the highest standards of professional and ethical practice.

As a Fellows they receive all the same benefits of the supporter membership and auto-enrolment annually in FICS.
